You get the wedding you've always dreamed of, of course!
If you're one of those people who has always said, 'When I get married, I'm going to do it my way, or I won't do it at all!', then hiring a celebrant is the first step you can take to making those words come true.
That's not to say that other people won't still throw in their two pennorth, but ultimately, the day should pan out the way you want it. When it comes to appeasing family members, that's one thing, but having control over the ceremony itself can really make you feel that you're getting the day you actually wanted.
Hiring a celebrant rather than engaging a registrar is something that's becoming more and more popular, especially as people are now realising that they can get the legal ceremony (the bit that had to be performed in a building - although this has changed because of COVID) done and dusted for less than £50 in a lot of cases. You do not need to hire a registrar for the whole ceremony.
During lockdown, when people couldn't have more than 6 guests at their wedding, many couples decided to have the legal ceremony, and then go for the celebration ceremony once restrictions were lifted, and lots of people realised that hiring a celebrant was often the best option in this instance. This process is still an option even now we are out of lockdown, and restrictive practices.
It makes sense to divide the ceremonies up in this way - the register office stuff (which has to happen in any case if you want your marriage to be legally recognised by the state) generally takes about 5-10 minutes. You are then free to plan the rest of your celebration ceremony with a celebrant, and, unlike engaging a registrar, you are not bound by limitations on content or time. You can still opt for a registrar to perform the whole thing, of course - but why would you want to place restrictions on the type of content you can have, and why would you want to worry about going over time?
So, if you want the ceremony to be just the way you want it to be, according to your wishes, hopes and dreams, think seriously about dividing your marriage ceremony into two parts - and if you book me, you might even save a bit of money.
